Virtual Payment Terminal (VPT) is a computer with a special security configuration that allows UVic employees to safely enter customer payment card information received via telephone, mail, or fax (MOTO) in a PCI compliant manner. It is an institutional decision to process payment card information received via telephone, mail, or fax using Virtual Payment Terminals to manage risk of PCI non-compliance. How do I access this service?
Deployments of this software are part of a PCI-DSS compliance initiative, so coordination through the Finance department is necessary. For more information on PCI compliance and accepting payment cards refer to the site.
Once the license has been obtained, contact the Computer Help Desk or your local Desktop Support Services staff. They can assist with the deployment of a VPT.
What is the cost for this service?
There is no additional charge for the PCI compliance configuration or Microsoft Data Loss Prevention monitoring.
When is this service available?
This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, except during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. You can be informed of service interruptions by subscribing to . Servers do not need to be available or reachable for this service to function.
