Centre for Accessible Learning (CAL)

UVic’s Centre for Accessible Learning supports students with disabilities and health issues. We work with you to ensure an equitable, inclusive and usable education. You must register with CAL to access our services.

Scholarships

Students with a disability, including those on a reduced course load, are eligible for all scholarships if they meet the academic and/or other award-specific criteria.

You must self-identify to the Entrance Scholarship Officer and In-Course Scholarship Officer by emailing awards4@uvic.ca. You must also have disability documentation filed with the Centre for Accessible Learning (CAL).

Library services

UVic Libraries supports users with a disability by providing specialized facilities and services in McPherson/Mearns Centre for Learning and the Diana M. Priestly Law Library.

Learning Assistance Program (LAP)

If you need help with your courses, there are many programs available.

Society for Students with a Disability (SSD)

The  (SSD) is a post-secondary student advocacy group under the ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø Students’ Union which promotes the full participation and inclusion of students who self-identify as having one or more disabilities at the ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø. The SSD aims to support students who self-identify as having one or more disabilities; in particular, we support students to reduce barriers in the social, emotional, and educational domains of student life.

STEPS Forward

STEPS Forward, through the BC Initiative for Inclusive Post-Secondary Education (BC-IPSE), works in collaboration with UVic to include students with developmental disabilities to continue their education after leaving high school.

STEPS Forward inclusion facilitators work closely with the UVic campus community to support these young adults to engage in an authentic student experience, enriched by their participation in all aspects of the campus, while studying courses over 4-5 years in a field of study offered by the university.
