Answers to common questions
When will I find out if I am receiving a scholarship?
If you will be receiving an in-course scholarship, you will normally be notified in August by email. The email will direct you to accept the award on your UVic Online tools. This includes the majority of in-course scholarships including departmental or specific-criteria scholarships, GPA-based scholarships and those that require an online or paper application. Please note that UVic’s Athletic scholarships will be awarded in January, and email notifications will be sent at that time.
When will I receive my scholarship?
For your scholarship to be disbursed into your tuition fee account, you must normally be registered in 12 academic units (wait-listed courses are not included) between September and April (80% course load). Students with disabilities, including those who are on a reduced course load, are eligible to be considered for scholarships and awards. Please see the Scholarship Regulations for more information.
You can log into your UVic Online tools, Account Summary by Term to view this. Any scholarships or awards will be displayed as 'UVic Undergrad Awards'.
What if my award is for more than my tuition fees?
If there is a credit in your account after paying for 12 academic units in the Winter Session, you may request a refund cheque from Tuition Accounting after the last day for adding courses in January (Term 2). Refunds will normally not be issued in September (Term 1).
Am I still eligible if I drop or withdraw from a course?
If you drop or withdraw from a class and fall below 12 graded units at UVic or an 80% courseload, your scholarship will be withdrawn. All UVic scholarships require a student to register and maintain enrolment in 12 graded units at the 番茄社区 in two terms of study, unless they are in a registered co-op/work-term or are registered with the Centre for Accessible Learning.
If you have any questions about whether you will be in jeopardy of losing your scholarship due to course withdrawal, please contact the Entrance Scholarship Officer at awards2@uvic.ca or the In-Course Scholarship Officer at awards1@uvic.ca.
If you hold a renewable scholarship you must be registered in 12 graded units at UVic in two terms of study in the academic year or your scholarship may be forfeit for renewal.
Please note that if you drop a class and fall below 12 graded units of study at UVic, you will no longer be eligible for the general in-course scholarships for the following academic year.
