Preference will be given to students from South Vancouver Island (south of Nanaimo including the Gulf Islands). Preference will also be given to single parent students.

A bursary is awarded annually to a student entering fourth year in the School of Child and Youth Care, Preference will be given to a student with an interest in children with developmental disabilities.

One or more awards, of a minimum of $1,000 each, are given to entering, transferring or continuing undergraduate students in the School of Child and Youth Care with demonstrated financial need and who have been actively involved in volunteering or paid employment in advocacy work on behalf of children/youth facing adversity. Preference is for students who have lived experience in foster care or out-of-home/alternative care.

Applicants must submit a description (maximum 300 words) describing their volunteer or paid advocacy work on behalf of children/youth facing adversity.

Approval of the recipient(s) will be made by the Senate Committee on Awards upon the recommendation of the School of Child and Youth Care.

One or more awards are given to entering or continuing undergraduate or graduate students in the School of Child and Youth Care, with preference to students who have demonstrated financial need.  Undergraduate students will apply through the online application via My Page.  Graduate student applications must be submitted to the Faculty of Graduate Studies by June 15.  Approval of undergraduate recipient(s) will be made by the Senate Committee on Awards.  Approval of graduate recipient(s) will be made by the Faculty of Graduate Studies Graduate Awards Committee upon the recommendation of the School of Child and Youth Care.

One year's free membership in the Association is awarded to a graduating student who has demonstrated proficiency in practica and has made significant contributions to the Association's activities. 

Approval of the recipient will be made by the Senate Committee on Awards upon the recommendation of the School of Child and Youth Care and the B.C. Child and Youth Care Services Association's Victoria Region Executive.

A certificate of distinction and a prize of at least $1000 is awarded to the student with the highest graduating grade point average in the Faculty of Human and Social Development registered for the BA, BCYC, BSc, BSN or BSW degree.

Approval of the recipient will be made by the Senate Committee on Awards upon the recommendation of the Faculty of Human and Social Development.

Scholarships are awarded to academically outstanding students who intend to continue their studies at the 番茄社区 as follows:

1. One scholarship to a student in each of the programs: Child and Youth Care, Nursing and Social Work, on the recommendation of the respective Directors;

2. One scholarship to a student who has completed the qualifying 300-level courses for an Honours or Major program in Astronomy;

3. Two scholarships for award within the student body at large. If no suitable candidates can be found in categories (a) or (b), additional awards can be made in category (c).

Approval of the recipients will be made by the Senate Committee on Awards upon the recommendation of the Directors of the Schools of Child and Youth Care, Nursing and Social Work.

An award is given to the undergraduate student in the School of Child and Youth Care who has the highest grade in CYC 423 or equivalent course. This award may go to a graduating student.

One or more scholarships are awarded to academically outstanding undergraduate students in the School of Child and Youth Care. Preference will be given to students who are dedicated to advocacy on behalf of families with children and youth and to those who assist in building capacity at the community level for children and youth in transition in BC. Students may submit a statement (max 350 words) outlining their advocacy or capacity building experience. Applications are submitted via a student's Online Tools.

Approval of the recipient(s) will be made by the Senate Committee on Awards upon the recommendation of the School of Child and Youth Care.

A scholarship is awarded to an academically outstanding undergraduate student entering third or fourth year of the Child and Youth Care program who shows professional promise as indicated by excellence in Child and Youth Care practice (e.g., high achievement in practica coursework, notable contribution in volunteer/community involvement). 

Students must submit a letter of reference (max 350 words) outlining their volunteer/community experience. Applications are submitted through the on-line scholarship application accessed via a student's Online Tools.

Approval of the recipient will be made by the Senate Committee on Awards upon the recommendation of the School of Child and Youth Care

One or more scholarships are awarded to academically outstanding women undergraduate or graduate students in the School of Child and Youth Care. Preference will be given to mature students who have spent time away from school and have returned to complete an academic degree.

Approval of the recipients will be made by the Senate Committee on Awards or the Faculty of Graduate Studies Graduate Awards Committee upon the recommendation of the School of Child and Youth Care.
