Pay Transparency Report

UVic’s 2024 pay transparency report incorporates information collected through the Better Data Project. This report assesses if there is a difference between how men, women, and nonbinary people were paid at UVic. The report was created in accordance with and adopts their metrics and structure.

While this inaugural pay transparency report highlights the progress that UVic has made to position itself as a provincial leader in equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging, we recognize that we still have work to do. We will continue to implement initiatives to eliminate pay gap inequities, guided by our Strategic Plan, Indigenous Plan and Equity Action Plan and working collaboratively with our employee groups.

The BC government legislated that employers create and publish a pay transparency report as part of the . The goal of this legislation is to ensure men, women, and non-binary people are paid equally. It is a requirement that UVic publish our pay transparency report on our website each November 1.

Gender Information for the pay transparency report may be updated by completing the Better Data questionnaire. You can update the gender on your employee profile by completing a personal information change form. Gender information from employee profiles is used in the pay transparency report only when a Better Data Questionnaire has not been completed.

If you don’t want your gender to be included in future pay transparency reports, select “prefer not to answer” on the Better Data questionnaire. Your pay information will still be included in the pay transparency report as part of the “unknown” group.
