Internal communications and marketing
A lot of internal communications and marketing materials are produced at UVic for events, announcements, courses, etc. that are aimed on campus at current students, faculty and staff. This audience is already familiar with UVic, and units have a need to differentiate their communications and marketing, otherwise all posters on a poster board and slides on a Digicaster screen could end up looking the same, making it hard to distinguish messages.
The key messages that are part of the Edge brand don’t need to be as strongly communicated internally, as they're persuasive, strategic messages. Most internal communications and marketing is for tactical purposes.
For communications and marketing that is exclusively for an internal audience there is more flexibility in that internal materials don’t have to reflect the Edge, however if any Edge elements are used, the guidelines must be followed.
