Admission categories
Standard admission process
Most students applying for undergraduate degree studies at UVic follow our standard admission process. This includes:
- High school students in your graduating year
- High school graduates who have not studied full-time in college or university
- College/university students who want to transfer from other post-secondary institutions
- Degree holders (college/university graduates)
Refer to individual programs for the specific admission requirements.
Other admission options
These categories allow applicants to submit additional information that isn't considered in the general admission process.
- Accelerated Entry for dual credit during high school
- Expanded Qualifications for high school students
- Homeschooled students
- Special Access for students whose previous studies were impacted by health, disability, family circumstances or similar challenges
- Special Access – First Nations, Metis and Inuit
- uStart for students from the Greater Victoria School District (SD61)
Returning UVic students
If you previously registered in credit courses at UVic and have been away for more than one year (three terms), you'll need to apply for readmission before you can register for future courses. When you submit your application, you can choose to return to your previous program or request a new one.
Exchange, study abroad and visiting students
If you're enrolled at another university or college, you can take courses at UVic that count toward your degree at your home institution.
Exchange programs
If your school has an agreement with UVic, you can attend UVic as an exchange student.
- Gustavson School of Business exchange program
- Humanities, Science and Social Sciences exchange program
- Law exchange program
Study Abroad partners
Students from Study Abroad partners in Denmark, Germany and Norway can visit UVic for one or two academic terms.
Visiting with a letter of permission
If your school isn't partnered with UVic, you can visit us with a letter of permission.
Community members
Community members can apply to take a limited number of credit courses per term without completing a degree through discovery studies.
Alternatively, you can register to audit courses for no credit.
