Fellows & Scholars in Residence
The CFGS Fellowship Program constitutes a core part of the intellectual life at the centre with an overarching aim of building a sophisticated and transdisciplinary network. Through this program, CFGS offers a variety of fellowships, including graduate student research fellows, visiting graduate research fellows, UVic faculty fellows, visiting research fellows, and visiting research scholars. Fellowships and research stays range from a few weeks to a year.
Since the program inception in 2013, CFGS has hosted more than 100 scholars from at least 28 countries. Weekly seminars often boast that half of the first languages spoken around the table are not English, offering another perspective to the interdisciplinary nature of the program and of the experience. Additionally, a number of cross-border research scholars have joined the centre through a partnership between CFGS and the Borders in Globalization project. CFGS has also hosted three co-sponsored Harold Coward Indian fellows through joint partnership with the Centre for Studies in Religion and Society and the Centre for Asia-Pacific Initiatives.
