Community engagement framework

In 2012, UVic finalized the community engagement framework regarding campus land use planning and development projects. The framework responds to a desire to work collaboratively and respectfully with UVic's surrounding neighbourhood residents and other external stakeholders on land use and development projects. Developed through extensive engagement with community stakeholders, the framework provides for a consistent methodology to be used to determine the overall approach to an engagement program for a capital project. 

In consideration of best practices, organizational goals and stakeholder input related to priority issues and preferred engagement approaches, the framework sets a three-step process to determine the engagement program:

Continued work in Community Engagement

UVic continues to work with local municipalities to address planning issues and development, including affordable housing strategies and transportation upgrades. 

  • We meet three times a year with representatives from local Community Associations to present current projects in planning or development
  • UVic is working with the to complete road upgrades and a cycling/pedestrian crossing at Gordon Head Road and Midgard Avenue that will connect to the western most segment of the Campus Greenway.
