UVic Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) Terms of Service

The UVic Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) at ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø is provided in support of learning, teaching, and administration. The following agreement ("Agreement") describes the terms on which you may access and use UVic MFA ("Service").

In order to become or continue as a user of this Service, you must read and accept all of the terms and conditions of this agreement. If you do not agree to be bound by the terms of this Agreement, you must not use or access the Service.

The following features are available in this Service. Accepting this agreement will enable these features:

  • Multi-factor authentication from Cisco's Duo protects your account and information by using a second source of validation, like a phone or token, to verify user identity before granting access.

We reserve the right to modify this Agreement at any time, and without prior notice, by posting amended terms for acceptance on this site. Your continued use of the Service indicates your acceptance of the amended User Agreement.

 

Information Disclosure


By using the Service, you agree to make your information available to UVic service administrators who are located in Canada and Duo Security service administrators who are located worldwide for the purpose of support and system administration. You should not add or share personal or private information about yourself that you do not wish others to see.

Your first name, last name, NetLink ID, email address, IP address, location, device information will be stored on servers operated by Duo Security. Duo Security employees and subcontractors will have access to this information for the purposes of operating the service. University Policy

Use of the Service is subject to ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø policies including:

IM7200 - Acceptable Use of Electronic Information Resources Policy

IM7800 - Information Security Policy

GV0235 – Protection of Privacy Policy

 

Access

The Service is available to current students, faculty, and staff at the ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø with a primary NetLink ID. Upon leaving the University, your account will no longer be protected by the UVic MFA Service. UVic MFA will be removed within 1 year for former employees and within 90 days for former students.


 

Support


Support for the Service is provided by University Systems. Requests for University Systems support can be made through the Computer Help Desk. Duo Security provides support for product feature and capability questions and provides online tutorials and how-to documents. Service


The Service is provided by Duo Security and use of the Service at the ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø is subject to the Services Agreement, Terms of Service, and Privacy Policy of the vendor. These documents may change without notice from the ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø or Duo Security. These Terms of Service are subject to change at any time without prior notice. All users must agree to any amendments to the Terms of Service to continue use of this service.
