New Student Housing and Dining
Overview
Project management services has contracted a professional design team to develop and construct two new residence buildings at the University. These new residences will add 782 beds to relieve pressure felt by students attempting to secure housing for University, as well as replace the aging Cadboro Commons dining hall with a new modernized dining hall.
These new buildings will come with more than just residence dorms, they will include space for two new classrooms, conference and banquet rooms, and an Indigenous students lounge. The buildings will also be built to a high degree of sustainable standards, with both LEED Gold v4 and Passive House certification being pursued.
The construction of both buildings has begun and is expected to be complete in Spring 2022 for building 1, and Spring 2024 for building 2.
