Waste reduction
The waste reduction unit has standardized the management of solid waste and recycling at the university. We keep the campus clean and green. We are the front line of campus sustainability. and food waste services are now integrated, supported by education and outreach programs through the Office of .

Service Standard
Garbage and Recycling collection from loading dock
- Paper recycling will be collected from high occupant buildings 3x/week from high occupant buildings and 2x/week from low occupant buildings.
- Mixed container recycling will be collected from high occupant buildings 2x/week and 1x/week from low occupant buildings.
- Cardboard recycling will be collected from high occupant buildings 2x/week and 1x/week from low occupant buildings.
- Compost will be collected from food outlet locations 1-3x/week and bi-weekly from other locations on campus.
- Garbage will be collected from high occupant buildings daily – 3x/week and from low occupant buildings 1-2x/week
Tri-Station and Tote Cleanliness
- Tri-stations in campus buildings will be cleaned as requested by Janitorial Services.
- Paper totes on loading docks will be cleaned 3x/year.
- Mixed container totes on loading docks will be cleaned once a month.
- Garbage totes on loading docks will be cleaned every 6 weeks.
Work Order Requests
- Work orders will be completed on specified dates or within 48 hours of receipt.

- office recycling program
- campus voluntary food waste composting program
- waste to resource assessments
- student move-out recycling program for furniture, consumer electronics and donated clothing (drop boxes)
- zero-waste station system for large-scale athletic events on campus
- integrated disposal system for recycling blue box materials and surplus assets such as furniture and electronics
