Engineering Expansion
Project Management Service and the design team at Dialog put special emphasis on minimizing the impact to the surrounding area while coming up with a design that has the largest potential for reducing GHG emissions. To accomplish this, the engineering expansion project will pursue carbon net-zero certification.
Key strategies include:
- Developing a structure through the use of mass timber, a local material low in embodied carbon.
- The use of sustainable cladding materials, such as plate-aluminum paneling and terracotta panelling.
- Installing a large solar array consisting of nearly 600 photovoltaic solar panels, spread across the ECSE, HBRSL and neighboring engineering buildings to supply over 180 MWh of annual energy supply.
- A standby battery supply system to harness power and provide in times of high demand and shock events.
