Eligibility
Family housing is available for families with or without children. Units are rented to eligible UVic students on a yearly basis, up to a maximum stay of six years (or eighteen consecutive semesters) per family.

Note: we do not permit smoking, subletting or pets (with the exception of Certified Guide dogs and Service dogs or Emotional Support Animals approved through the Priority Consideration process).
Definition of family
For the purposes of admission to UVic family housing, a family unit can be defined as one of the following:
- a single parent living with their children
- a lawfully married couple
- a couple in a common-law relationship
- a couple with their children, whether natural, lawfully adopted or of whom they are legal guardians
Student status
To be eligible for family housing, at least one occupant must be registered as a full-time UVic student.
- Graduate students must have full-time status confirmed by the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the University (The Faculty of Graduate Studies definition of a fulltime graduate program is: a graduate student is full-time if enrolled for a single Term (Fall, Spring or Summer) in courses totaling 3.0 or more units, OR enrolled in dissertation (699), thesis (599), project (598 or 596), or co-op work Term (800+).
- Undergraduate students must complete a minimum of 4.5 units per semester between September 1 and April with a minimum of 1.5 units from May - August in a degree granting program at the University.
Please note: Continuing Studies programs do not meet the academic eligibility criteria for Family Housing.
Number of occupants
The number of occupants is defined according to the size of the unit.
- One bedroom apartment plus den: a) Two adults OR b) One or two adults with one child under the age of 19.
- Two bedroom apartment plus den: a) Two adults OR b) One or two adults with one, or two children under the age of 19.
- Two bedroom townhouse plus den: a) Two adults OR b) One or two adults with one, two or three children under the age of 19.
- Three bedroom townhouse plus den: a) One or two adults with two, three or four children under the age of 19.

Alternative Family configurations may be considered, as long as the Family size adheres to the occupancy range of the unit.
