Allow others to access your library account
You can appoint a designate to access your library account on your behalf (e.g. sign out or renew items; pay library fines). To grant access to your account, and to be in compliance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, we require your written consent. Alternatively, you may designate a proxy.
Designating a proxy
Faculty and staff may grant proxy borrowing privileges to university student workers or research assistants.
Users with a disability may also request a proxy borrower's card for a friend or attendant to borrow library materials on their behalf.
.
- Proxy borrowers may borrow materials on their sponsor's account.
- Email notifications are sent to the proxy sponsor.
- The expiry of the proxy privileges is determined by the requesting staff or faculty member.
- Proxy patrons are unable to recall books on your behalf.
- If you would like your proxy to place interlibrary loan requests on your behalf, contact our Interlibrary Loan staff (250-721-8236, ill@uvic.ca)
