General admission
The application deadline for entry into the first-year JD program is December 1 (4 p.m. PST). All applications submitted must be complete and include all required documents by this deadline. You are strongly encouraged to submit applications earlier, since offers will be made on a continual basis starting early in the admissions cycle.
What do I have to do to be eligible for admission?
General applicants must:
- present proof of having received, with standing satisfactory to the Faculty of Law, a degree from the 番茄社区 or an equivalent degree from a recognized college or university; or
- present proof of having completed, with standing satisfactory to the Faculty of Law, at least the first three years (45 units) of a program leading to a degree at the 番茄社区, or the equivalent at a recognized institution; and
- allow UVic admissions staff to access your Law School Admission Test (LSAT) score obtained in the last five years; and
- Completed Law 番茄社区 Equity & Diversity Survey; and
- satisfy such other requirements as may be prescribed from time to time.
What goes into my application?
To be considered for admission to the Faculty of Law, please complete the following steps:
- Submission of the ;
- Payment of the application fee;
- Law School Admission Test (LSAT) score (written no later than the January test date);
- Submit a including both Part A and B, Part A not exceeding 750 words;
- One copy of a transcript for all post-secondary studies including exchange and study abroad transcripts;
- ; and
- TOEFL results (if applicable).
Do I need to send any other documents?
No letters of reference are required in the General admission stream. We won't look at them, so please don't send them.
The deadline for submission of transcripts is December 1. Please only upload an unofficial copy of your transcript(s) to the online application prior to the submission of your application. If you have updated fall grades, email them to lclerk2@uvic.ca. If an offer is made, you will be asked to send an official transcript.
How will you decide if I get an offer?
Admission decisions are primarily determined by a candidate's pre-law academic record and Law School Admission Test (LSAT) score. Where an applicant has multiple LSAT scores, the highest score is considered. Only LSAT scores within five years of the application deadline will be accepted. Personal statements may also be used in the admissions process. Please note that incomplete applications will not be considered.
