Give to UVic Law

We have benefited greatly from donations made by our alumni and friends. Our donors continue to support us with remarkable dedication and enthusiasm. These generous contributions are crucial to maintaining the high standards of our programs. Thank you for your continued support! There are a number of ways in which you can make a gift towards the Faculty of Law. However you choose to donate, all gifts will be directed to your preferred area of support.

Fundraising priorities

Diversity Entrance Awards

UVic Law is proud to admit students with diverse backgrounds and experiences. Diversity Entrance Awards recognize students entering the Faculty of Law who have demonstrated academic ability together with determination, resilience, contribution, and compassion in areas of life such as prior work experience, graduate study, community service, family care, or disability.

The Law Centre

We have a long-standing commitment to experiential education, in which law students ‘learn by doing’. provides students the opportunity to work with clients under the supervision of practicing lawyers, which aids in the development of essential skills and enhances their knowledge of a variety of areas of law.  Students who complete the Law Centre program are better prepared to ‘hit the ground running’ upon graduation, and contribute more effectively to their employers and communities. Funds raised will support the operating expenses of the Law Centre.

Environmental law

UVic Law's ELC is Canada's largest environmental law clinic. The trains students to advocate for BC's environment through law reform, legal representation, and public education.

Indigenous law

The Indigenous Law Research Unit works with Indigenous communities to identify resources within the peoples' own legal traditions to address the challenges they face.

Ways to give

Donating to the Faculty of Law can take many forms. Four of our most common and preferred means of making an impact are: annual donations; major gifts; bequest and planned giving, and gifts of assets.

Annual donations

Annual donations can be made through a variety of ways – whether they are one-time gifts, a single gift made through multiple pledge payments or a sustaining gift, they are a great way to make an immediate impact.

Major gifts

Through major gifts our donors continue to make unique and transformative impacts on the Faculty of Law and the 番茄社区. As each philanthropic conversation is unique, please contact , Development Officer, 250-853-3518 to discuss your interest.

Bequests and planned giving

Legacy giving is popular choice for many alumni as it enables our donors to make a significant gift from their estate rather than from their current income. A planned gift can open a world of possibilities for future generations of UVic law students. If you have already established a bequest in your will, we invite you to discuss this with us to ensure your legacy gift will be directed to your preferred focus.

Gifts of assets

Donating appreciated publically-traded securities, mutual funds, or bonds is a very tax-efficient way to support the Faculty of Law. Donors receive full tax credit for the fair-market value.

Whether you choose to or by mail, all gifts are tax deductible. Thank you for considering UVic Law among your charities of choice!
