The field of Greek and Roman studies has been in the forefront of the electronic information revolution from its beginning. Nearly all of Greek and Latin literature is available on CD-Rom (the Department has a copy of the resource), and there are many other databases available on the Web. A few particularly useful sites are listed below; most incorporate numerous links themselves.

Latin sites:

  • - Allen and Greenough's classic reference grammar.
  • - This site allows you to search the English definitions in Latin dictionaries.
  • - Type in the Latin word, get both definition and form!

Greek sites:

Grammar and exercises for Greek students:

  • - complete with audio files.
  • - everything from grammar exercises to reading passages. A tremendous resource. Includes links to other Greek resources on the web.

- also (mostly) from Perseus -

  • - LSJ on-line (both Middle Liddell and Great Scott).
  • - Browse your favourite author, with help from the on-line dictionary, parser and translations.
  • - look up English definitions in LSJ online.
  • - scanned in, page by page, with a search function. University of Chicago.
