A bachelor’s degree in child and youth care offers exciting career opportunities. Our students develop transferrable and career-specific skills to support good practice with children, youth, families and communities experiencing difficulties. The deadline to apply is the last day of January of each calendar year.
If you have not applied to the ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø before, you must complete the UVic online application form and submit supplemental documents.
It is highly recommended that you submit all supplemental documents when submitting the UVic online application form. Please review the requirements for supplemental documents within the "additional requirement documents" link on the Apply page prior to completion of your cover letter and resume. If you submit your supplemental documents after the submission of the UVic online application form, it may take several days before you have an opportunity to upload them again.
Cover letter
- Submit a cover letter (maximum of 2 pages) that includes your personal introduction, statement of interest in the UVic Child and Youth Care program, and an explanation of why this field of study is important to you.
Resume
- Submit a current, professional resume that includes your full work history, volunteer experiences, and interests.
You will also need to request one official transcript from all post-secondary institutions attended, as well as the high school you graduated from, be sent to Admission Services. Select Faculty of Human and Social Development and then Child and Youth Care.
Please note this application allows you to save and return to it as you work to complete the necessary requirements.
If you are a current or returning UVic student, please go to My UVic Application to apply to the CYC undergraduate program. You will need to complete and submit some supplementary documents.
It is highly recommended that you submit all supplemental documents when applying to the CYC undergraduate program. Please review the requirements for supplemental documents within the "additional requirement documents" link on the Apply page prior to completion of your cover letter and resume. If you don't submit your supplemental documents with the CYC application form, you will need to wait until Records Services contacts you to be able to have an opportunity to upload them again.

If you wish to begin taking CYC courses before applying to the School, a number of courses are open to non-program students. If you are already a UVic student, you may simply register in select CYC courses when registration opens.
New, current, or returning UVic students will be required to upload a Professional Resumé and Cover Letter during the application process.
- The Professional Resumé should include a full work history, volunteer experiences, and interests.
- The Cover Letter (2-page maximum) should include a personal introduction, a statement of interest in the UVic Child and Youth Care program, and an explanation of why this field of study is important to you.
If you're a student from another institution and want to take a ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø child and youth care course, you must apply for admission to the university as a visiting student.
A letter of permission from your current university's adviser must be sent to UVic ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø, and a copy faxed to the School of Child and Youth Care adviser at 250-721-7218.
Once you've been admitted to the university and registration is open, you will be registered in the course.
Visiting students must meet all course pre-requisite requirements and will be registered space permitting.
