UVic Research Anywhere

Research services
The Office of Research Services (ORS) helps faculty secure and administer research grants, awards and contracts. We can also help you meet research regulatory responsibilities, including those around human and animal research ethics.
We can help you:
- publicize research opportunities
- initiate and coordinate funding
- plan agency site visits and presentations
- deal with funding agencies on behalf of UVic researchers
- develop, submit and track research grant and contract proposals
Regulatory approval
You’ll need regulatory approval if your research involves human participants or animals, or if you’re using materials that require biosafety, radiation safety or hazardous materials or diving registration. You must have these approvals in place before funds are released and your research begins.
Research computing
Research Computing Services provides advanced research computing (ARC) services and infrastructure to UVic researchers across all disciplines. Our free consultation service is available at any stage of your research.
We can help you with:
- grant application review and in-kind contributions
- research data management
- recommendations for equipment and software
- custom software development
- information security reviews
Hiring post-doctoral fellows

Hire a co-op student
More than 42 per cent of UVic students take part in co-op. Our students can support and accelerate your research efforts with their diverse knowledge and skills. Plus taking part in co-op can help you build partnerships with industry.
The hiring process is easy. Students are available for four-month work terms.
Research partnerships
Research Partnerships and Knowledge Mobilization (RPKM) facilitates partnerships with external groups like industry, government, not-for-profits, post-secondary institutions, Indigenous governments and more.
We can help:
- connect you with the right people for your idea or project
- develop confidentiality, non-disclosure and research agreements
- manage intellectual property and technology licensing arrangements
- provide information about funding and grant opportunities
- clarify and navigate regulatory environments
- explore ways to communicate your project results
- conduct research security review and due diligence associated with research partnerships

Sharing your research results with the public is important. Promotion of your research:
- shows the value of your work
- helps attract top researchers and students to UVic
- shows that the public's tax dollars are being well-spent
- mobilizes knowledge between academic researchers and the wider community

UVic has a "creator owned" intellectual property policy with a sharing obligation back to the university. It respects the interests of researchers, creators, the university and the community.

The Coast Capital Savings Innovation Centre is UVic's on-campus venture accelerator. We're here to help entrepreneurs get the support and mentorship they need to develop their ideas. We provide tools, expertise and space on campus to get your ideas ready for investors. Our services are available to staff, faculty, students and alumni.
