Creating or renewing international agreements
Faculty and staff members may submit proposals for new international partnerships which may focus on students, staff, and faculty exchanges; student recruitment; co-operative education; double/dual degrees and other collaborations.
Proposals must use an approved form available from the Office of Global Engagement and meet the following requirements:
- Have documented support from a UVic department or school, as well as a faculty,
- Align with the new university's Strategic Plan and Global Engagement Strategy, and
- Ideally, involve units from across campus.
Completed proposals are submitted by email (world@uvic.ca) to the Office of Global Engagement, prior to signing by the office of the Vice-President Academic and Provost.
Global Engagement staff negotiate formal agreements upon receipt of a proposal, and monitor the effectiveness of all international agreements on behalf of UVic.
Types of agreements
The following types of agreements are managed and coordinated by OGE:
A non-binding expression of intent to collaborate. An MOU is used when the University as a whole is seeking the collaboration.
A binding agreement that sets out the terms of collaboration for receiving fee-paying students as transfer students into third (or another) year to complete a UVic undergraduate degree.
A binding agreement that sets out the terms of collaboration for collaborating with another institution in the delivery of a joint or a dual degree.
How to apply
Proposal applications for international agreements are available from the Office of Global Engagement and must have the signature of the department chair and dean to be considered complete.
