Groups are offered either in-person or via Zoom. To sign up for any of the following, please email swgroups@uvic.ca and include your name, V-number and the workshop you are interested in.
ADHD Virtual Workshop Series
Join this series of virtual, interactive sessions featuring presentations from the fields of medicine, psychology, nutrition, wellness promotion, pharmacy and academic learning strategists. Any currently registered UVic student with newly diagnosed or known ADHD condition may join.
Sessions can be attended in any order, though are most valuable attended together. Space is limited.

Career Curiosity
Invest two hours in your future to explore your career possibilities. In this workshop you will complete a variety of self assessment exercises and develop a plan for discovering future career possibilities!

CBT Skills Group
Join this 8-week course integrating neuroscience, mindfulness and cognitive behavioural therapy skills and concepts for the treatment of mild to moderate anxiety and depression.
Introduction to the foundational concepts of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), weaving in aspects of mindfulness, emotion regulation and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy over an 8-week series. You will learn these concepts and apply practical skills in your daily life, with the aim of identifying which ones are most helpful to manage your stress and symptoms. Zoom details will be sent to all registrants.

Connections
Seventy percent of UVic students are not from Victoria. Join in and share conversations with students adjusting to UVic life. This 4 session drop in group at the start of the term is for first year in residence, or 1st-4th year living off campus, or a recent transfer students. Come and introduce yourself, meet and share with others. Students can offer ideas to each other about change, transition, normalizing shared experiences, relationships, loss of former friendships and community. There is an importance of initiating with or responding to others as you make new friendships, find community or belonging. Personal growth concepts, resources will be shared throughout if requested.

Connections for Mature Students
Mature students often return to their undergraduate or graduate studies yet find few mature students in their classes. This four session drop in group is a place to join in to introduce yourself, meet and share with other mature students. Transitions from having raised your family, or having left former work situations, different countries or a change in relationship dynamics could be topics for conversation. Personal growth concepts, resources will be shared throughout if requested.

Emotional Regulation Group
Learn concepts, strategies, and techniques that can be used to express and manage your full range of emotions.
What contributes biologically, developmentally, and socially to our ability to self-regulate?

Into the Transverse
A group for students who identify as trans, nonbinary, or gender diverse/non-conforming, this five-week, 90-minute group will draw on Art Therapy and Narrative Therapy approaches to explore topics such as identity affirmation, resilience, building affirming connections, and trans joy. No previous art-making experience is required.
Open to students who self-identify as trans, nonbinary, or gender diverse/non-conforming. Max number of participants: 10

Join us for an interactive workshop designed to help you make the most of your time at UVic by exploring options related to career and academic planning.
We will be guiding you to discover new possibilities for your degree and career through meaningful personal reflection, group discussions and activities.
This workshop is for undergraduate students. New students and returning students are welcome.

Rest, Revive and Renew
You have been working so hard on your studies, yet many students think they don’t have time to stop, be still, meditate, play or create. This is a two session drop in with unstructured time where you can come to put your attention on YOU. When we rest, we become more receptive to possibilities. When we stop the monkey mind chatter, the mind can rest and renew. Come and let’s rest together, so you can review, revive and move forward in your studies and in life. Guided meditations, journalling, doodling, collaging, movement could be offered depending on the group needs.
