Academic planning for undeclared and newly admitted students or students in another faculty
If you are a newly-admitted student, an undeclared student, or a student in a faculty other than Humanities, Science or Social Sciences and want to book an advising appointment, contact us. To book an advising appointment, visit our front counter in person or call our office at 250-721-7567 (ext. 6) and speak directly with a frontline adviser.* Due to high volume of requests, and to avoid confusion, please do not contact us both by phone and email with the same request as this will increase response wait times.
If you only have one or two questions and feel that an appointment may not be necessary, you are welcome to email your questions to advising@uvic.ca.
* International students who are not able to call or have difficulty calling our office may request an appointment by emailing our office at advising@uvic.ca.
Academic planning for declared students
Students with a declared academic program of study in the Faculties of Humanities, Science or Social Sciences can use the Academic Advising Centre's self-service system (Accordion) to book an appointment.
If you are declared in a program in the faculties mentioned above, log in to Accordion with your Netlink credentials using the button below and follow the prompts to book an appointment.
Academic planning within, or transfer to, another faculty
The Academic Advising Centre does not provide support for students studying in a faculty or program outside of Humanities, Science or Social Sciences (e.g., Business, Education, Engineering and Computer Science, Fine Arts, Human and Social Development or Kinesiology) or planning to transfer to one of these programs or faculties.
For assistance, students should contact the undergraduate academic adviser for the program they are planning to pursue.
Preparing for a post-degree program or a program at another institution
If you are preparing for a graduate program at UVic, contact the academic unit adviser for the department or school in which you are interested and review the admission requirements for the program.
If you are preparing for a program at another institution (either post-degree or transfer), contact the institution to which you will be applying for the most accurate and up-to-date information on admission requirements and UVic transfer credit.
The Academic Advising Centre maintains a list of post-degree professional programs that are within Canada but are not offered at UVic. Please note: we are not equipped to help interpret admission requirements for other programs or to make recommendations on course selection to support admissibility.
Support with registering for courses
The Academic Advising Centre is not able to register students in courses directly, nor does the centre assist students with the process of registering for courses. For support, review the how to register for courses page or contact the registration support line.
Questions regarding your admission, transfer credit or transcripts
Questions regarding your admission status, your evaluated transfer credit or your transcripts should be directed to the Office of the Registrar. If you are a recently admitted student, contact the admissions assistant for your program. If you are a current or returning UVic student, contact your records clerk.
