Andrew Buck
Andrew Buck currently researches the history of dispossession. He has authored and/or co-edited five books in the field of legal history, with particular attention to property and politics. Originally from Australia, where he edited The Australian Journal of Legal History, he now resides in Victoria, BC, where he has most recently taught courses in the law school at UVic on the legal history of dispossession and the legal history of the right to vote. He has held research fellowships at the Huntington Library in Los Angeles and the John Carter Brown Library in Providence, Rhode Island.
A firm believer in interdisciplinary research, he has published and presented on topics such as the role of property in Shakespearean drama, the law of inheritance and colonial state formation, and the history and politics of property in the British Empire during the nineteenth century.
He is currently working on a project titled “Towards a global history of dispossession”.
