Martin Bunton
Dr. Martin Bunton is returning to the Centre for Global Studies as Acting Director from July 2021-June 2022. Martin has held the Acting Director position twice before, from July 2016-June 2017 and from January 2015-July 2015. When he is not in the role of Acting Director, Martin holds the Chair of the CFGS Program Committee.
Martin is a Professor in the Department of History at UVic, publishing an array of books and articles exploring topics such as Modern Middle Eastern History, World History and Colonial Land Policies. His current research explores the development of land policies in Egypt during the period of British rule, 1882-1920, with a focus on land taxation, cadastral surveys, state lands, and agricultural credit.
