The International Centre for Students (ICS) is located in the Jamie Cassels Centre, room B202d.
Our regular office hours are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Pacific Time).

Immigration drop-in advising
International student advisers (ISAs) are available to answer quick immigration questions Monday to Friday from 2-4 p.m. (Pacific Time), except during holidays or office closures.
How to access drop-in advising
Students meet with an ISA on a first-come, first-served basis via Microsoft Teams, phone or in person. To meet with an ISA for a short, same-day appointment:

Prepare for your drop-in meeting
Make sure you have the following information ready:
- student number (V#) or UVic ONECard
- original or copy of your Canadian temporary resident documents (e.g., study permit, work permit, temporary resident visa) and passport
- any other relevant documents you have that may be needed for the consultation
- your list of questions
Note: Our ISAs cannot complete your immigration applications for you or advise on permanent residence (PR) programs. Students seeking immigration representation or PR consultations should consider hiring an .
Settlement advising
The Settlement advising team provides information and support for international students adjusting to life in Victoria and Canada. Settlement advisers can advise students on housing, healthcare, family resources, banking, and more. They also support students in navigating the transition to UVic and by facilitating connections to resources on campus and in the community.

You can also visit the International Centre for Students (Jamie Cassels Centre, room B202d) to meet with a Settlement adviser between 9am and 4pm. Drop-in appointments are not guaranteed and are based on advisers' availability.
Exchange program advising
The Exchange team coordinates and supports student exchanges, incoming and outgoing, for undergraduate and graduate students in the Faculties of Fine Arts, Humanities, Science and Social Sciences, with over 80 partner universities in 29 countries around the world.
Exchange advisers are available to support and guide prospective and current exchange students on a first come, first-served basis.

Global Community

CICC licensee obligations and complaints process
As Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants (RCICs) and Regulated International Student Immigration Advisors (RISIAs), UVic International Student Advisers are regulated by the . As such, they are subject to the , but the obligations set out in sections 23 (requirement to enter into a written consultation agreement) and 24 (requirement to enter into a written service agreement) do not apply.
The College reviews, investigates, and resolves complaints about RCICs and RISIAs who may have:
- Failed to comply with the Code of Professional Conduct
- Been incompetent

You may also seek support through the following channels:
- Complaints of discrimination and harassment and/or sexualized violence can be brought directly to the Equity and Human Rights office. The office provides confidential consultations, informal and formal resolution options under the Discrimination and Harassment and Sexualized Violence Prevention and Response Policy, as well as support options to all students, staff and faculty.
