Julie is a PhD candidate in English and CSPT at UVic. They are also a member of the Praxis Studio for Comparative Media Studies. Julie’s research is situated at the intersections of queer feminist science and technology studies, affect, and biopolitics. They are particularly interested in hormonal codings of human and non-human bodies through medical and discursive technologies. Their dissertation investigates how certain texts may be understood as queer and speculative hormonal messaging and how such re-imaginings of what hormones “do” challenge hegemonic modes of gendered, racialized, and disabled subject-creation.
