For those who fall under the following employee groups, there is assistance available through various funds to help with costs to further your professional development.

Pro-d policies and procedures

CUPE Local 951

The CUPE Local 951 Career Development Fund is currently administered across three application deadlines: 

  • Oct 30th Deadline: Any course with a start date between January 1st and April 30th
  • Feb 28th Deadline: Any course with a start date before August 30th
  • June 30th Deadline: Any course with a start date before Dec 30th

Professional Employees Association (PEA)

Visit the left navigation bar or the PEA pro-d website for more information about the PDEA personal development expense accounts as well as the PEA central professional development fund and how to apply.

The PEA pro-d website includes details on how to apply for the Central Fund. The Central Fund has three annual application periods. Applications can be submitted for any professional development request/opportunity with a start date that falls 6 months before or 6 months after the application deadlines of:

  1. January 31st
  2. May 31st
  3. September 30th

StrongerBC Future Skills Grant Program 

As part of the StrongerBC Future Ready Action Plan, government introduced the future skills grant program to support British Columbians, aged 19 or older, in accessing up to $3,500 in short-term skills training, aligned with skills and labour market demands as identified in B.C.’s Labour Market Outlook.
