Co-op and Career Services offers placements locally and abroad, where students have the opportunity to work in projects that support sustainable cities and communities.

Go by Bike Week

The (formerly Bike to Work Week) is a tri-annual free event that encourages cycling for one week, with multiple Celebration Stations, challenges, and prizes.

Green housing and dining

UVic opened a new student housing complex, designed and built with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) V4 Gold and Passive House standards.

UVic student housing supports students with multiple on and off-campus residency options, blending residential and academic experiences with a wide range of additional supports.

Indigenous youth shape new graphic novel

Andrea Mellor, a recent PhD graduate, co-created a visual storytelling project that unites the voices of urban Indigenous youth in care, Knowledge Keepers, and allies.

UVic has a strong pull of scholars dedicated that ensure a generation of language experts with the skills to lead successful language revitalization efforts in Indigenous communities.

Indigenous cultures on film

Christine Welsh and Jeannine Carrière teamed up with co-directors Madeline Ell and Gregory Coyes to create the documentary Lii Michif Niiyanaan: We Are Métis—a love letter to the courage, determination and resilient spirit of the Métis nation.

First Peoples House

First Peoples House at UVic is a social, cultural and academic centre serving as the home-away-from-home for Indigenous students by providing a safe space for learning, sharing and community building.

UVic Libraries for all

The UVic Library provides free access to Library resources to members of the community and visitors, who can borrow books and audio materials, use digital and print collections, computer terminals, etc.

Legacy Galleries

UVic’s Legacy Art Galleries is the university’s art museum, reaching across disciplines, within and beyond the university, to engage visitors in learning and dialogue about issues that matter.

Finnerty Gardens

The Finnerty Gardens, a free and all-year-long open space for the community, contains over 4,000 different trees and shrubs with more than 1,500 rhododendron and azalea plants and a spectacular range of companion plants artistically displayed on a 2.6 hectares.

National Center for Indigenous Laws

The new building for the National Center for Indigenous Laws was designed to reflect and honour the long-standing relationships between the law school and the Songhees, Esquimalt and WSÁNEĆ peoples.
