Meet Gulsen Cok
About
Hello, I am Gulsen Cok, a Muslim Spiritual care provider at Multifaith.
I started my journey as an industrial engineer, and then found my calling as a spiritual caregiver. So, when I finished my theology education, I worked for 12 years in Turkey and have volunteered for 3 years in British Columbia at two non-profit organizations as a Spiritual Caregiver.
I value the opportunity to help further the efforts of the Multifaith Center by engaging the campus community, especially the students at UVic.
I like the originality and individuality of each person like Rumi said " You are not a drop in the ocean, you are the entire ocean in a drop." As a Spiritual care provider, I describe my job from the point of trying to discover these oceans while discovering your entire ocean.
One of my life mottos is:
“This being human is a guest house. Every morning there is a new arrival. A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor…Welcome and entertain them all. Treat each guest honorably. The dark thought, the shame, the malice, meet them at the door laughing, and invite them in. Be grateful for whoever comes, because each has been sent as a guide from beyond."(Rumi)
