Ye'yumnuts
The Commemorating Ye’yumnuts project was initiated by Cowichan Tribes in 2017 to encourage and inspire Cowichan youth; celebrate Cowichan’s continued presence on the land; integrate Cowichan teachings into community life; connect settler and Indigenous communities in the area; and promote respect and understanding of Coast Salish cultures, archaeology, and ecosystems. Maps have been one of the central tools for visualizing Ye’yumnuts in Cowichan Tribes’ broader cultural landscape.
