Opportunities within the Office of Student Life
Student Life Mentors
The Student Life Mentor (SLM) role is dedicated to creating supportive spaces, programming and engaging UVic students in matters most important to them. This role is an exciting paid opportunity for anyone who is interested in engaging UVic students in conversations about campus resources, services, and to act as a guide for navigating the campus community. Student Life Mentors act as peer leaders in fostering relationships and community for all UVic students, mentoring student engagement and growth.

Practicum/co-op opportunities
We often accept practicum or co-op students to work in our office. Former students have worked on projects involving curriculum development, program assessment, event planning and more. Nourish + Flourish
Nourish + Flourish offers a space for students to come together, experience authentic connections with one another, pause, reflect, and discuss topics that connect us. An important part of building community is breaking bread together, so the discussion happens while enjoying a locally prepared meal.
Through this program, we hope to de-centre the individual in leadership and instead focus on cultivating leadership through the values of care, curiosity, and respect that bring us together as a strong interdependent community.

Student Life Grant
The Office of Student Life administers the UVic Student Life Grant, which funds current undergraduate and graduate student-led initiatives (up to $1,500 per applicant) that engage and positively impact the UVic campus community. Students can apply for one of the following funding streams: Anti-racism initiatives or Community engagement initiatives.

Work-study students
We often hire students for part-time positions September to April through the work-study program. These students help with a variety of projects in our office. In the past, these positions have often involved communications and engagement work. Students must be work-study eligible in order to apply for these positions.
The positions are paid work opportunities (typically $20/hour); hours vary by position.

Hiring panel student volunteers
The Office of Student Life (OSL) is looking for student volunteers to take part in upcoming OSL hiring panels/search committees for professional staff positions in our office. This is a great way to gain knowledge and experience of a hiring process, and to bring student perspective to staffing decisions at UVic.
A $400 honorarium will be offered to students who participate on OSL hiring panels.

Opportunities outside OSL
Clubs and course unions
The 番茄社区 Student Society (UVSS) has over 200 different to suit your interests. Members of these clubs are actively engaged in a diverse range of activities including volunteering, academic and professional development, social and leisure activities and more. The UVSS also oversees 40 that represent UVic academic departments. Additionally, Vikes Recreation offers a number of you can join to stay active and have fun with your peers.
Volunteering
There are a number of volunteer opportunities available both on-campus and in the Victoria community.
