ATLAS masterclass 2012
A team of ATLAS students organized our first ever ATLAS MasterClass in April 2012. There were 15 highly-motivated local highschool students involved, and four local teachers participated. They were able to find both real Z bosons in the ATLASdata as well as some heavier Z' bosons from simulated data that was surreptitiously mixed in. The feedback from both students and teachers was very positive. Many asked if they could come back to do a similar event in future (and it was suggested that we might hold a similar event for high school teachers).
We plan to do this again next year, perhaps with a workshop earlier in the year aimed at teachers.
