South Korea Public Policy Research Program
Since 2021, CAPI has hosted numerous South Korean researchers who are sponsored by their government to conduct research on various policy issues in a comparative context.
Our research cohort is a vibrant, active community of researchers who are analyzing public policy on a wide variety of issues, from security, environment and urban planning to disaster management, finance and social services. Participants in the program are with us for one to two years and CAPI connects them with scholars and experts in the field to provide opportunities for them to share knowledge and deepen their understanding of Canadian policy.
Some current research topics include:
- economic and social impacts of carbon-neutrality in Canada
- social welfare policy for veterans and the elderly
- statistical estimation models and methodology of the digital economy
- international denuclearization and nuclear containment policies
Participants in the Korea Public Policy Research Program present their research bi-annually to an audience of colleagues, participate in CAPI events and prepare reports of their findings. The program provides a rich and immersive environment for them to share learned experience in policy development with their Canadian counterparts and develop new practices through a comparative lens.
