Join Dr. Bindu Menon for a viewing of the award winning Indian film Fandry!

Fandry is a 2013 Indian Marathi-language film (presented with English subtitles) about romance amidst caste-based discrimination. The film is about a teenager from a Dalit (lower caste) family, who lives at the village fringe, and falls in love with an upper caste girl. Fandry won the Grand Jury Prize at the Mumbai International Film Festival and has been screened all over the world since it was released theatrically at the 61st Indian National Film Awards.

Dr. Menon will introduce the film and facilitate a discussion afterwards.

Free and open to the public – all are welcome.

About Dr. Menon

Dr. Bindu Menon is the 2015/2016 Harold Coward India Research Fellow at the Centre for Asia-Pacific Initiatives, the Centre for Global Studies and the Centre for Studies in Religion and Society. She is Assistant Professor in Journalism and Mass Communication at Lady Shri Ram College for Women, University of Delhi. Bindu studies the transnational relationships between religion, media and migration.
