Christina is a PhD candidate with the Applied Conservation Science lab at UVic. She is passionate about applied, community-driven conservation science. Her current work in the Great Bear Rainforest is centered around the traditional territory of the Kitasoo/Xai'xais First Nation where she collaborates with the community of Klemtu to address locally meaningful research questions. Specifically, her research involves using non-invasive research methods (passive hair snagging for genetic and stable isotope analysis and remote cameras) to monitor the movement and diet of bear populations (grizzly. black and Spirit). As an outgoing Crossing Borders scholar, Christina will be based at the University of Dunedin, New Zealand (Zoology) where she will draw on quantitative expertise to analyze data relevant to carnivore conservation planning in coastal British Columbia.
