We offer a range of awards and ways to celebrate and support our faculty and staff, as part of our commitment to fostering a healthy and inclusive environment. Nominate a deserving member of our community today. 

Faculty and sessionals

HSD Teaching Excellence and Educational Leadership

Nominations for the Teaching Excellence and Educational Leadership award are due on November 15. The following links provide information on HSD awards and the same nomination form can be used for either award category. Please contact the office of , Associate Dean Academic, if you have any questions. 

HSD Teaching Excellence for Sessional Faculty 

The HSD Award for Excellence in Teaching is offered annually to a sessional faculty member or lab instructor who demonstrates excellence in teaching over a minimum of three years before the nomination and shows educational leadership furthering the strategic priorities outlined in the HSD strategic plan.

HSD Research Excellence Awards

These awards recognize the research contributions of HSD faculty. The three awards are:

  • Early Career Research Excellence Award
  • Mid-Career Research Excellence Award
  • Indigenous Research Excellence Award

HSD faculty are encouraged to submit nominations for each of the three awards. Nominations for this year are due on March 10.

HSD Internal Research and Teaching Scholarship Grant

Our HSD Internal Scholarship Grants provide funding for research projects by early career research and teaching stream faculty members. Email , Associate Dean Academic, for information. 

Staff

Island Savings HSD Staff Professional Development Award

The Island Savings HSD Staff Professional Development Award is offered to a staff member who inspires their colleagues by building a sense of community and contributing to a spirit of wellbeing in the workplace. 

HSD Staff Recognition

This strengths-based, non-competitive initiative recognizes administrative support staff (CUPE and PEA) who go above and beyond their job descriptions, who make our days brighter, and who inspire us in their day-to-day work. Please submit nominations using the nomination form, and email it to  with the subject line, HSD Employee Recognition.
