Research centres & organizations
It’s easier to solve a puzzle when you can approach it from many different points of view. UVic research centres and organizations connect different academic areas and promote partnerships. They partner with external organizations and provide opportunities for students.

Research groups:
Networks of Centres of Excellence
Networks of Centres of Excellence of Canada are large-scale virtual research centres. These organizations unite partners from universities, industry, government and not-for-profit organizations.
These networks conduct research in areas critical to economic and social growth. Their goal is to improve the quality of life for Canadians.
UVic faculty are part of seven of the 12 current Networks of Centres of Excellence of Canada research groups.
Corporate entities
UVic has two corporate entities related to research. Each of these is overseen by a board of directors. The members of these boards are from government, industry and other institutions.
