The Better Data Project
The Better Data Project focuses on enhancing the collection, management, and use of identity data across campus. One of the first steps is getting to know who is a part of UVic.
The Better Data questionnaire is open to all UVic employees and students. By completing the self-ID questionnaire, you will help inform inclusive action across UVic. It should take less than two minutes to complete.
How to complete the questionnaire
New employees will receive a link to complete the questionnaire one they’ve begun their employment. Complete yours if you haven’t already!
The questionnaire is also available to all employees through the ‘Online Tools’ section of their UVic User Profile. Questionnaire responses can be updated at any time.
Better data and employment equity
Employment equity at UVic encompasses relationship building, support through the life cycle of employment, data gathering, and on-going evaluation in service of an equitable, accessible workplace for all. Employment Equity means that every employee can expect to be treated with equity in all stages of their contact with UVic, from their first encounters through the end of their time here.
The Better Data Questionnaire is the backbone of this important work by allowing UVic to engage in on-going evaluation of equity programs through systematic reporting on representation in recruitment, hiring, retention, and advancement across different identity populations.
