Honorary Degrees

The Senate Committee on Honorary Degrees and Other Forms of Recognition considers recommendations to the Senate of candidates for Honorary Degrees.

The next deadline for nominations for honorary degrees is Friday, November 15, 2024.

Awarding an Honorary Degree is a wonderful way for the university to recognize and honour individuals who have achieved great things and celebrate what we value. In the past, these degrees have been awarded to such honourees as:

Andrew Petter
Linda Catlin Smith
Gerald Bernard Stanick
Zainub Verjee

The Senate Committee on Honorary Degrees and Other Forms of Recognition welcomes suggestions of worthy candidates to receive an Honorary Degree. You may find the criteria and requirements of a honorary degree nomination package with the committee's Terms of Reference.
