Co-op information for employers
Co-operative education, or co-op, is a learning strategy where students alternate study terms with terms working for employers in a range of workplace settings.
As a co-op employer, you’ll benefit from students’ hard work, fresh perspectives, innovation and skills, while giving them the opportunity to gain relevant, paid experience in your workplace.
Economics students from all degree levels (undergraduate, masters and doctoral) participate in the program, and offer a wide range and depth of skills.
Economics undergraduates are competent with standard office software programs and statistical software. They can write simple programs and manipulate data. They have excellent mathematical abilities and a solid grasp of statistics and probability. They have a good understanding of macro and microeconomic theory.
Graduate students have the skills noted above, plus additional training in micro and macroeconomics, advanced statistics and mathematics, cost-benefit analysis, and econometrics.
