Honours Fest

Two students looking at an Honours Fest poster

Honours Fest is the Faculty of Science's annual conference-style poster session, where undergraduate honours students are invited to share their honours research with the public. Students are challenged to explain complex research in a logical and engaging way, with prizes awarded to the top posters thanks to the generosity of Dr. Fritz Boehm.

Honours Fest is open to the public, so students have the opportunity to share their hard work with friends and family, UVic mentors and science enthusiasts in the Greater Victoria community.

  • Date: Thursday, February 27, 2025
  • Time: 2:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
  • Location: Michele Pujol Room, Student Union Building

Visit the Honours Fest blog to learn more and view video presentations from previous years.

Details & Requirements

Students participating in Honours Fest are asked to create a research poster that will be presented during the event. A brief overview of the poster requirements can be found below. Students are encouraged to attend an Information Session in January (date TBD) for more details on what is required, and tips on creating an effective video and poster.

Poster details

A research poster is intended to concisely summarize research and display results attractively to help publicize findings and generate discussion. The poster should include your hypothesis/project goals, contexualization of the project, an overview of the experimental method, results and your conclusion. You should be prepared to present your poster to Honours Fest attendees and judges throughout the event.

Posters are typically 48" x 36" or 36" x 24" and can be printed on-campus at Blink Printing. Blink has also put together poster presentation guidelines to help you set up a professional looking poster using PowerPoint.

Prizes and judging

Cash prizes are available for the top 3 Honours Fest posters/presentation, as well as the top presenter in each department, thanks to the generosity of donor Dr. Fritz Boehm. Posters and videos will be judged by current Science faculty members and alumni.
