PhD Program
Students admitted into the PhD program are required to complete :
- a minimum of four graduate courses, including at most one seminar course, 4 courses x 1.5 credit each = 6 units (8 courses x 1.5 credit each = 12 units for students without a Masters)
- MATH or STAT 693 (Candidacy Examination) worth 3 units
- a dissertation of original, publishable research worth at most 21 units (30 units for students without a Masters).
Candidacy examination
All students are required to pass a candidacy examination consisting of three parts, in distinct areas, within their first two years of study. You must register for MATH or STAT 693 (Candidacy Examination) in the terms in which you are preparing or sitting the candidacy examinations.
You may be required to demonstrate a reading knowledge of either French, German or Russian.
