Research services

Research and teaching is supported with full-service shops and facilities including the:

  • Machine Shop, which repairs and fabricates equipment for Science laboratories and Non-Science departments/units on campus;
  • MSV John Strickland, a research vessel used to support Science research and teaching, and can be booked by groups both on and off campus;
  • Science Store, which sells office and research supplies and chemicals to researchers with Science Stores accounts or FAST codes, and processes orders, receive incoming goods and ship materials for Science.

Technical support

Faculty of Science technical support includes Electronics Shops that offer tech consultation to faculty, staff and students and maintain an inventory of components tailored to department needs. Additionally, their expertise extends to supporting other departments within the Sciences and the broader University community.

  • Faculty of Science research activities: Labour is charged at $30/hour and parts costs are recovered.
  • Non-Faculty of Science units at the ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø: Labour charge starts at $75/hour and parts costs are recovered.
