Graduate Welcome 2024

Friday, August 30, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The Faculty of Graduate Studies and the  welcome new graduate students on Friday, August 30, with a three-part event starting with info sessions, a campus tour and wrapping up with appetizers and cold drinks at the Grad House.

Getting to know the UVic Libraries as a Researcher

An introduction to services and resources offered by the library to support graduate research and publication advising.

The Graduate Supervision Relationship

Cedric Littlewood, Associate Dean FGS

Cedric will be joined by current UVic students to give a brief introduction to the Graduate Supervision Policy, shared experiences, tips and lessons learned working with an academic supervisor.

11:00 a.m.

Student Life Campus Tours

A 90-minute campus tour led by current graduate students. Tour guides will meet students in ECS 123 after the info session.

Grad House

12:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Welcome to the Grad House

The campus tour will conclude at the Grad House where appetizers and cold drinks will be available. Students who opted out of the info session or campus tour are welcome to join – come to the in the Halpern Centre for Graduate Students at 12:30 p.m.


Additional orientation programs

While Graduate Student Orientation is the main orientation program for graduate students, we also offer a number of programs for specific student populations. You should register for and attend any additional programs that apply.
