Dr Henderson has been teaching at UVic since 2001, having previously taught American literature at Simon Fraser University. He has written or co-written five textbooks for Oxford University Press designed to help first-year students navigate the challenges of university-level reading, writing and critical thinking. He is grateful to the many UVic students whose work appear in the various editions of his textbooks. The Active Reader was a required text for several years in English 135.
