Our people

Our people

Pioneers in the field when we were established in 1966 (as History in Art), UVic's Art History & Visual Studies is still one of the largest world art history departments in Canada.

Our internationally renowned faculty includes two research chairs — a Canada Research Chair and the Williams Legacy Research Chair — and many faculty hold prestigious research grants, undertake international residencies and visiting professorships. We also serve on the editorial boards of top-ranked journals and book series, and have received a number of teaching awards.
