Dr. Grace Wong Sneddon has an Interdisciplinary PhD in Anthropology and Pacific and Asian Studies. As past Director of Academic Leadership Initiatives and Advisor to the Provost on Equity and Diversity at the ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø, she continues to share her knowledge and expertise with organizations locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
Her areas of research include: equity, diversity and inclusion, race and gender in popular culture, Asian North American identity, Chinese Canadian Spirituality in the 21st Century, and the Chinese diasporic culture. Her recent publications include, a chapter on diversity in leadership, “Diversity in leadership or diversity for leadership? Mapping Inclusion/exclusion and organizational deficit” and with co-author, Dr. Reeta Tremblay, (Un)Settling the Islands: Race, Indigeneity and the Transpacific, a BC Studies special issue, Fall, 2019, titled “Political Geography of Marginalization: Victoria’s Chinese Rescue Home.”
Dr. Wong Sneddon has a MEd in counselling psychology from the ·¬ÇÑÉçÇø and is a Registered Clinical Counsellor.
Born and raised in Victoria, Grace is passionately committed to her community. She has completed the ICD-Rotman Directors Education Program and shares that knowledge with the various Boards on which she serves. She is vice-chair of the Greater Victoria Elder Care Foundation, treasurer of the Hoy Sun Ning Yung Benevolent Association, member of the TRIUMF Management Board, and Chair of the Victoria Foundation.
