ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT:
In the past decade modern mathematical techniques have been applied to study disrete point sets or tilings in Euclidean space. This was to a large extent motivated by solid state physics where such point sets model the atomic positions in a solid. I review the elements of a topological theory of point sets including its relevance to solid state physics and the description of point sets by inverse semigroups.
