Undergraduate program
The BEng in Electrical or Computer Engineering programs are accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB) of the Canadian Council of Professional Engineers. Accreditation ensures that graduates of the program satisfy the academic requirements for registration with the provincial Association of Professional Engineers.
In the first year, all BEng students take the same Engineering core courses regardless of which program they pursue. The Engineering core includes courses in mathematics, physics, computer science, engineering fundamentals, English, and chemistry. In the second year, students select a specific department and degree program. The program is normally completed in four years and eight months. This includes four mandatory co-op work terms that provide sixteen months worth of relevant work experience.
Although the program is highly structured, it still provides enough flexibility that it can be completed from as soon as four years to a maximum of 80 months. Many courses are offered only one time per year. Consult with the program adviser for schedule planning if deviation from the standard schedule is necessary.
